# Get Started: Key Concepts

The words we use, defined.

A few terms come up throughout Nudgly. Knowing them makes everything else clearer.

  <Term name="Assistant / personality">
    The character you talk to. You pick one; you can switch anytime. Same abilities, different style.

  <Term name="Task">
    Something to be done. You can complete it yourself or hand it to the assistant.
  </Term>
  <Term name="Nudge">
    Something the assistant noticed and is offering to handle, shown on your Overview with a one-tap action.
  </Term>
  <Term name="Workflow">
    An automation the assistant runs for you when a trigger happens — a time arrives, or an event occurs. The assistant does the steps. Example: every morning, pull your calendar and send a brief.
  </Term>
  <Term name="Routine">
    A personal checklist the assistant guides you through, step by step. You do the steps; the assistant reminds and tracks. Example: your morning routine of wake, news, workout, breakfast.
  </Term>
  <Term name="Trigger">
    The thing that starts a workflow. Either a time (every Monday at 9am) or an event (a meeting ends, a task is completed).
  </Term>
  <Term name="Approval">
    For sensitive actions — send, book, delete — the assistant pauses and asks you first.
  </Term>
  <Term name="Integration">
    An app you connect (Gmail, Google Calendar, WhatsApp) so the assistant can work in it.
  </Term>
  <Term name="Action">
    A single thing the assistant does. Your plan includes a monthly number of actions.
  </Term>

The difference between a workflow and a routine matters: if the assistant does the work, it is a workflow. If you do the work, it is a routine.
